Professor Weiping Liu was born in1964 in Guangdong Province, China. He graduated from Wuhan University with a bachelor degree in chemistry in 1983, and obtained a master degree in engineering in 1986 from Kunming Institute of Precious metals. Since then, He has been working at the institute as a researcher in the field of chemistry of platinum metals. From 1995-1997, He was studying main courses of pharmaceutical specialties in West China University of Medical Sciences. Now he is a professor and the chief scientist of Chemistry and Pharmacy Division under the institute, focusing on the development of platinum compounds as cancer therapy as well as platinum metals-based catalysis.
